We start off with a pick from Russia, where CSKA are heavy favourites to win this, but the odds still offer good value.
The team from the capital has won 7 of its last 10 head-to-head matches against Fakel in Moscow.
Stoke City vs Swansea City – Over 1.5 goals (1.38)
There is the first of two Championship picks for this weekend, but this is not the one we referred to in the beginning.
Still, at close to 1.40, it is one of those that you could combine with a similar value pick to get a 2x acca.
At least 2 goals have been scored in 13 of Stoke City’s last 15 home matches and 11 of Swansea City’s last 12 away matches.
Union Saint-Gilloise vs Zulte-Waregem – Union Saint-Gilloise to win (1.35); Over 1.5 goals for Union Saint-Gilloise (1.42)
A trip to Belgium is up next, where USG take on Zulte at home.
Saint-Gilloise have won 17 of their last 20 home matches (D3), scoring at least 2 goals in 15 of them, including in 5 of their last 6 home matches.
FC Zenit vs Dynamo Moscow – FC Zenit to win (1.61)
And back to Russia for what should be a great game between Zenit and Dynamo.
The hosts certainly have the upper hand here, as they have won 14 of their last 19 home games (D3, L2), putting these odds in the ‘must have’ category.
Baltika vs Spartak Moscow – BTTS (1.90)
Our final pick from Russia for this week is a BTTS that looks great.
Baltika have scored in 17 of their last 21 home matches, while Spartak has scored in 15 of their last 20 away matches.
Los Angeles FC vs San Diego FC – Over 2.5 goals (1.46); BTTS (1.53)
Over to the United States for a California clash that promises goals.
At least 3 goals have been scored in each head-to-head match between the teams, and both teams have scored at least 1 goal.
Kaiserslautern vs Karlsruher SC – Over 2.5 goals (1.50)
Germany’s second division is already on Matchday 2 and this particular game looks like a lock for goals.
2.5+ has landed in all of the last 5 direct meetings between these sides.
Sevilla vs Rayo Vallecano – Under 2.5 goals (1.60)
And the opposite should happen in Spain in the opening round.
In fact, only 3 of the last 10 direct meetings between these teams brought more than 2 goals.
Burnley vs West Ham – Over 0.5 goals for West Ham (1.80)
Here is the EFL Championship pick we promised at the start. Seems barely believable that it’s priced this high, so grab it while it lasts.
West Ham’s attack is much stronger than the average in the Championship and their strong pre-season showings combined with Burnley’s very poor form should see the Hammers score at least once.
Arsenal vs Manchester City – BTTS (1.66)
The Community Shield is also taking place this weekend, with the Gunners and the Cityzens coming face-to-face at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Both teams have been scoring and conceding in every single one of their pre-season games and have a good track record of BTTS landing in head-to-head matches as well (7 of the last 10).
De Graafschap vs Jong AZ – Over 2.5 goals (1.30)
Our final pick is from the Eerste Divisie, Netherlands’ second league, and, as usual, it’s an Over for goals.
Bit of a safety net, at 1.30, but a solid one regardless. All of the last 6 H2Hs have brought 3 or more goals.
